Diplomarbeit, die am 30.12.1999 erfolgreich an einer Universität in Deutschland im Fachbereich Wirtschaftswissenschaften eingereicht wurde. Gang der Untersuchung: Gegenstand dieser Arbeit ist es, zu untersuchen, inwieweit durch Kennzahlen und Kennzahlensysteme formulierte betriebswirtschaftliche Tatbestände mit Hilfe eines analyseorientierten mehrdimensionalen Datenbanksystems in einer Type abgebildet werden können, die sich an der Sichtweise des Managements auf entscheidungsrelevante Daten orientiert. Zunächst werden dazu betriebswirtschaftliche Kennzahlen und Kennzahlensysteme begrifflich abgegrenzt und klassifiziert. Nach einer kurzen Vorstellung vier verschiedener Kennzahlensysteme wird untersucht, welches von diesen am ehesten eine am Bedarf des Managers orientierte Informationsversorgung gewährleistet. Dieses dient als Grundlage für die spätere Umsetzung in einem entsprechenden mehrdimensionalen Datenbanksystem. Anschließend werden dazu die mehrdimensionalen Datenbanksysteme in den Zusammenhang der betrieblichen Informationssysteme eingeordnet und die ihnen zugrundeliegenden Datenstrukturen näher erläutert. Deren Relevanz in der praktischen Anwendung wird in den darauffolgenden Abschnitten betrachtet. Gegenstand der weiteren Untersuchung sind die Vorgehensweisen zur Erstellung eines Modells des wiederzugebenden Kennzahlensystems. Ein Vergleich verschiedener Ansätze führt zu der Auswahl eines Vorgehensmodells, das im weiteren Verlauf der Arbeit angewendet wird. Darauf aufbauend erfolgt die Verknüpfung des betriebswirtschaftlichen und DV-technischen Teils. Dabei wird anhand der ausgewählten Vorgehensweise ein Modell des zugrundeliegenden Kennzahlensystems erstellt, das mit Hilfe der zuvor diskutierten Beschreibungsmittel dargestellt wird.
